Important Information for Air Travel to Hobart

When booking air travel to Hobart from Melbourne or Sydney you have three choices of airline. These are Qantas, Virgin Blue and Jet Star.

Bookings on all three airlines can be made online:

Qantas: www.qantas.com.au
Virgin Blue: www.virginblue.com.au
Jet Star: www.jetstar.com.au

It is strongly recommended that you DO NOT book heavily discounted flights on Jet Star to connect with your incoming international flight. Jet Star is a discount airline that rigidly enforces a 30 minute check-in time and if your international flight is delayed you will lose your fare. Jet Star will not honour discounted tickets if you are late for check-in, under any circumstances. Jet Star does however have more expensive “Jet Flex” fares that are more flexible if your itinerary has to change.

Qantas are the most flexible airline in terms of scheduling changes, but also have the least flights to Hobart each day and these often do not connect with incoming international flights.

Virgin Blue have regular flights to Hobart at reasonable rates and are usually pretty good about rescheduling in the case of delayed incoming international flights.
